lyrics

Over coffee and news of divorces and babies she laid out her life for us all to behold. Yeah, she’d insinuate herself into distant relations with desperate parties as we watched her grow old, but she knew that her hints were just taken as small talk. You know, that harmless chatter forgiven by all, ‘cause "we're all a bit crazy" they'd joke round the office and she would agree, knowing all of the while that the truths told in jest and tales out of context were the crumbs of her memories laid in the forest for that one day, someday when she’d be returning, finally going back home.

Now behind the desk sat a long ago actress who'd once graced stages from New York to Rome. Yes, behind those eyes so carefully disguised was the mind of an artist like the world’s never known. But, she'd grown disillusioned and well, what with the children, it really was for the best that she'd came back home. The plan was return when her life was in order, but it'd just never happened. Oh, where did the time go? Yeah, the truths told in jest and tales out of context were the crumbs of her memories laid in the forest for that one day, someday when she’d be returning, finally going back home.

Filling memos with the words of lesser known prophets, she amused herself at the world's ignorance. Yeah, just like with a drug she found these little thrills as the silence slowly closed in for the kill. Now, memories and dreams blend like smoke into air and sometimes it’s hard to say which is more true when in every breath there’s the hints what once was and a little something that just won’t leave the room. Yeah, the truths told in jest and tales out of context are the crumbs of my memories laid in the forest for that one day, someday when I’ll be returning, finally going back home.
