lyrics

The sun comes up over silos and shelter belts
Then it makes it’s way on down to the cafe
The world can wait ‘till he's caught up on the latest
And covered all the topics of the day
Shirley pours his coffee and reminds him that good fiends are hard to find
But, he looks around the place and thinks “yeah, that’s left around this town”

Now, the ones that you have known since the day that you were born again
Talk about how the world has gone to hell
And someone suggests "hey it’s probably for the best
if a person just packed up all they owned and moved along"
But, this world’s an ageing parent that you couldn't bear to put in any home
So, you dream on it a while but you'll be back this way before too long

Now, pirates don't get those patches from fighting drunken battles
Or hanging out too long with a cut throat crowd
No, it's from staring at the sky too long trying to navigate their way back home
Or figure out just where in the world they are
Just like those drunken buccaneers we've been staring up for far to long
When we finally hit the promised land we're going to be to blind to see were home

Yeah, the sun goes down and you finish off a bottle
Then watch the stars shake loose from the sky
Sometimes they swim around like a million little bluegill
Sometimes they dive like a swarm of fiery bees
Then comes that final moment that no one here has ever remembered
When dreams replace your visions and prepare you the day
